Record Street
Brewing Company Bluegrass Jam
CANCELED |
The jam scheduled for Tuesday,
Dec 8th at Record Street Brewing Co. has been
cancelled as, sadly, they have gone out of
business.
Many thanks to owners Joe
and Lisa Morandi for welcoming us into
their fine establishment the past few months.
Joe says our jam was the high point of the month
for him and it certainly was a treat for us,
too.
We are arranging another
location for this popular jam and will send
another email when we have the time and place
worked out.

Susanville
Bluegrass Festival
June 25th-27th
2010 |
June 25-27, 2010. The
event will take place at the fairground in
Susanville, California, which is located on
Highway 36 about 85 miles West of Reno, Nevada.
Although the entertainment takes place the
25th-27th, you will be able to show up at the
fairground to camp starting at 12 noon on
Tuesday, June 22nd.
The fairground is a very nice facility covered
with grass and large shade trees. There are 78
RV hook-up sites (water and power only) and
plenty of room for additional campers. This
event will feature three days of bluegrass
music, a large craft fair, a car show, a square
dance and an indoor, air-conditioned room for
the quilters with music from the stage piped in
so the quilters don't miss anything.
In addition to the bands Lance Brown will
be featured as Will Rogers. Lance is the premier
Will Rogers impersonator in the country today.
There will also be a children's program each day
(Friday - Sunday) and workshops will be held
during the lunch and dinner breaks.

A
nice thank you letter... |
The Monday Night Volunteer Band plays
annually at the Governor's Chili Feed. They
received this thank you letter from Lt. Gov
Brian Krolicki:
"Dear Kathi, Thank you
once again for providing such fine entertainment
at this year's Nevada Day Chili Feed. Your music
was excellent as always and my office has
already received a number of requests of how to
contact your association. This is always one of
my favorite Nevada Day Events, and I cannot
imagine having it without your group to
entertain the crowd. Thank you again for the
effort you all put into making the Chili Feed
and our state's birthday a very special event
for everyone. I look forward to next year. Best
regards, Brian Krolicki"
and he added, hand written, "The
best yet!!" |

Jimbos Juke Joint & Acoustic Roadhouse Café.
FM 88.7 KUNR. Jimbo's Juke Joint and Acoustic
Roadhouse Cafe is a melodic two-hour excursion
into traditional, contemporary and Americana
music, hosted by local personality Jim Burke.
From the cutting edges of bluegrass combined
with old-timey musical roots, to a mixture of
old country and gospel, the first hour is a
dedicated cultural back road journey via Jim's
distinctive style of "JimboGrass." It's followed
up by a second hour of riveting improvisational
fusions of singer songwriter compositions,
acoustic folk, and varied instrumental
interpretations. A blend of melancholy and
passion along with an occasional pinch of
cowboy-ness, Jim presents a superbly creative
and well-crafted collection of the contemporary
"acoustic roadhouse" countryside. |
