Dreamers Coffeehouse Jam -
On Hold For the Summer |
ON HOLD FOR THE SUMMER!!
Dreamer's Coffee House Bluegrass Jam on the 2nd
Friday of each month from 7-9:30PM. No
stage or sound system, just a circle of friends
and good bluegrass music. This is an
intermediate level jam, although beginners are
encouraged to come and play along. A couple of
rules requested by the management: no politics
and no cussing! Also, their usual closing time
is 9PM, and the staff have agreed to stay later
to accommodate us, so let's make sure to show
our appreciation! Dreamer's Coffee House is
located on the first floor of the old Riverside
Hotel, now known as the Riverside Artists'
Lofts, 17 S. Virginia in downtown Reno on the
River Walk. Parking is available close by at
1)Cal-Neva parking garage, 2) the parking garage
on 1st Street just north of the movie theaters,
or 3)on the street. Questions? Call Joyce
Furlong at 775-722-9877 or email at
juice421@sbcglobal.net Next Dreamers jam will be
in September.

“Fiddle Tune Jam” at Cindy Gray’s
house. If you’re serious about learning fiddle
tunes---or if you
actually know some of them!----this jam is for
you! We play fiddle tunes over and over, giving
breaks to those who can handle them. We start
slow, but we try to work our way up to “dance
tempo”. For a list of tunes that we play (with
chords), go to
Steve Kaufman's website
and scroll down. There are about 50 tunes
there, and most of the tunes we play are on this
list (but you don’t have to know all 50 to
come---start with 1 or 2!!). |

Jimbos Juke Joint & Acoustic Roadhouse Café.
FM 88.7 KUNR. Jimbo's Juke Joint and Acoustic
Roadhouse Cafe is a melodic two-hour excursion
into traditional, contemporary and Americana
music, hosted by local personality Jim Burke.
From the cutting edges of bluegrass combined
with old-timey musical roots, to a mixture of
old country and gospel, the first hour is a
dedicated cultural back road journey via Jim's
distinctive style of "JimboGrass." It's followed
up by a second hour of riveting improvisational
fusions of singer songwriter compositions,
acoustic folk, and varied instrumental
interpretations. A blend of melancholy and
passion along with an occasional pinch of
cowboy-ness, Jim presents a superbly creative
and well-crafted collection of the contemporary
"acoustic roadhouse" countryside. |
