Bluegrass Jams in Northern Nevada
Hosted by the Northern Nevada Bluegrass Association
All our jams are free, but it's greatly appreciated if you can bring a few bucks to purchase something or make a donation to the venues where we hold the jams. We seriously love Bluegrass, and we play only Bluegrass music at our jams.
Beginner Jam
All-Level Jams
Intermediate Jam
Bluegrass Music is pretty easy to learn. But you need to know a few unwritten rules and understand some simple musical techniques. Most of all, you need to know some Bluegrass tunes and songs by memory before you walk into a "real" Bluegrass Jam.
4th Thursday of Every Month
5-8pm at the Mountain Music Parlor, 735 S. Center St. Reno
You should know some basic chords, how to strum or pick your instrument. We provide music stands, printed materials and expert instructors.

Once you know the rules, chords, lyrics and playing techniques for a few Bluegrass songs, you're ready to blast off on your Bluegrass journey! It's OK to bring a music stand and some books or song sheets to help you learn and memorize.
2nd Tuesday of Every Month
6:30-8:30pm at Mountain Mike’s Pizza 1201 Baring Blvd, Sparks
AND
4th Tuesday of Every Month
6-8pm at Fox Pub & Brewery
124 Wonder St. Reno
(used to be Silver Peak Restaurant)

On the 3rd Wednesday of Every Month, Intermediate Pickers circle up at the Black Rabbit Mead Co. 401 East 4th St, 7-9pm. If you're not at an intermediate level, you're welcome to sit outside the circle and listen, strum and sing along. Details here.
Advanced Jam
These jams are typically "Invitational Only" as players are expected to play and improvise on the fly. Advanced Bluegrass players know hundreds (if not thousands!) of tunes and songs from memory, and that's the level you need to be at to join an Advanced Jam.
2nd and 4th Thursdays
6-8pm at Ceol Irish Pub
410 California Ave, Reno
